Moscow Tourist Office - The Tourist or Visitors offices that you are used to in the United States and Europe simply do not exist in Russia (St. Petersburg is the exception). You are mainly dependent for information based on the moods of hotel receptionists and administrators, service bureaus and travel firms.

The latter two are primarily to sell accommodations, excursions, and transportation rather than general sightseeing information. You could contact your local Russian Federation Embassy to see if they have any literature etc before you leave on your vacation.
